Report a bug, fix a problem, and common questions.

Send a bug report or an idea

Choose the bug button in the header (Report a bug or send feedback), pick Bug or Idea, add your email, a few words and any screenshots, and choose Send report. We reply by email.

  1. Choose Report a bug or send feedback (the bug icon on the home screen, the welcome page and the editor header, or Help in the menu bar). A red error note has a Report link that puts the error’s words in the description, for you to keep, change or delete.
  2. Choose Bug or Idea.
  3. Type Your email, and what went wrong (or your idea).
  4. Add screenshots if they help: Attach adds the Yapp window as it was, and Add screenshots… adds your own. You can paste or drop them on the form too. Up to 4.
  5. Choose Send report. You should see Thanks, it’s sent.
The report dialog.

What a report includes

Only what you put on the form: your email, your words and the screenshots you attach, plus the versions of Yapp Studio and macOS, which the form shows. Never your video, transcript or project files.

Through your agent

Or ask your agent

This looks like a bug in Yapp Studio. Can you report it?

Your agent asks whether you want a reply, writes the report in your words, and sends it only after you say yes. It sends your words, your email if you want a reply, and the versions, with no screenshots.

Fix "Yapp isn’t ready"

It means the one-time speech model download did not finish. The message says why, and Retry tries again. Most of the time you only need to connect to the internet or free some space.

It saysWhat to do
Yapp needs the internet once to download its speech model (about 460 MB). Connect, then press Retry.Connect to the internet and choose Retry.
There isn’t enough free space for the speech model (about 460 MB). Free up some space, then press Retry.Free up at least 1 GB, then choose Retry.
Yapp couldn’t finish getting ready. Press Retry to try again.Choose Retry. If it keeps failing, send a report.

Retry is on the welcome page row, and in the pill at the top of the home screen and editor. It never retries on a timer, only when you ask, and pressing it twice never starts two downloads.

A take that failed because of setup says The words could not be written with Retry. Retrying the take, or importing another, runs setup again. Takes that were waiting start by themselves when setup is ready.

Fix problems with projects and imports

The pane is empty, or Yapp will not open beside the chat

Ask your agent to show Yapp again. If the pane stays empty, open Yapp Studio from Finder or Spotlight and your agent carries on with its tools.

  1. Say "Show me Yapp again." Each link works once, for about five minutes, so your agent needs a fresh one.
  2. If the pane asks to allow the page, choose Allow.
  3. If it still does not open, open Yapp Studio from Finder or Spotlight. Its window shows, and your agent can edit through its tools as before.

If the page says Yapp Studio was closed. Ask your agent to show it again., Yapp quit (by choice, or after 10 quiet minutes). Ask again and it starts.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what people ask most about Yapp Studio.

Do I need an account?

No. Yapp Studio runs on your Mac. Transcription, Clean voice, cutouts and studying a video all happen there.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. Your files stay on your Mac. A bug report never includes your video, transcript or project files. See Privacy and Terms.

Which agents work?

Claude’s desktop app (Chat, Code and Cowork), ChatGPT through the Codex desktop app, and any agent on your Mac that can register a tool server. You use your own agent and plan. There is no chat inside Yapp Studio.

Can I use Yapp Studio from claude.ai or Codex on the web?

No. Yapp Studio’s connection is local: it works only from the desktop apps on your Mac, so claude.ai and Codex on the web cannot control it. Use Claude’s or Codex’s desktop app.

Can I use it without an agent?

Yes. Everything in the window works on its own. Only auto-trim of a whole take is something your agent does for you.

Does it work on Windows or an Intel Mac?

Not yet. It needs an Apple silicon Mac on macOS 14 or later. Windows is planned.

Does it have music, stock search or AI generation?

No music of its own: use your tracks. Your agent can bring in free-license stock from links. It does not generate pictures, video or voices.

Can I record a voiceover in the app?

Not yet. Bring in a recording, and see Make a voiceover video.

Where do I send a problem?

See Send a bug report or an idea.
