Zooms, Moves, transitions, keyframes, masks and speed.
Add a zoom
Open Zooms on the left rail and click a preset. The zoom starts on the word at the playhead and aims at your face by itself.
Choose Zooms on the left rail. Hover a tile to see it move.
Click a preset to add it at the playhead, or drag it onto the timeline.
In the right panel, set Amount (1× to 4×; it starts at 1.2×) and the Ease in and Ease out.
To aim somewhere else, turn off Aim at the face and drag in the small picture.

Make a Move: slide, shrink and turn your video
A Move is a zoom that also moves, sizes, turns and fades the whole picture. Add one from the Move tile in Zooms, and change it on its page.
In Zooms, click the Move tile. A new Move fills the frame and changes nothing yet.
On its page, set Position (X, Y and Rotation), Scale (100% fills the frame) and Opacity.
Choose what shows Behind the video: Black, Color, Blur or Picture.
Click the diamond beside a setting to change it over time (see Keyframes).
Any zoom becomes a Move when you use the diamond beside its Amount or Focus. Motion blur (off at first) blurs the picture when its size changes fast.

A pull-back Move.
Things you can build
Pull-back reveal: shrink the video over a color or picture with text around it.
Split screen with the video in half the frame, and a card in the other (or use the Split screen card look).
Word shake: a quick jitter and flash on a single word.

Add a transition between clips
Open Transitions on the left rail and click one. It goes on the cut nearest the playhead, centered on the cut, so your reel keeps its length.
Choose Transitions on the left rail. Search names, or hover a tile to preview it.
Click a transition to add it on the cut nearest the playhead, or drag it onto a cut on the main track. You can also right-click near a cut and choose Add transition for a Cross Dissolve.
It shows as a badge on its cut. Click the badge for its page, and change the Style or the Length there, or drag the badge’s ends. A new one is 15 frames (half a second).

When the spare footage runs out
A transition plays over footage past the cut. If a later trim uses it up, its badge hatches orange and its page says how many frames hold still. Choose Shorten to fit to fix it. Dips, Flash and Shake need no spare footage.

Animate with keyframes
Click the diamond beside a setting to add a keyframe at the playhead. Move the playhead, change the value, and Yapp Studio animates between them.
Select a card, text, graphic, Move, cutout or adjustment.
Move the playhead onto it. Click the diamond at the right of a setting, such as Position or Size.
Move the playhead and change the value. Another keyframe is added.
Use the arrows beside the diamond to jump to the previous or next keyframe. Click a filled diamond to remove that keyframe.
An empty diamond means no keyframes, an outlined one means keyframes elsewhere, and a filled one means one right here. A dashed path on the preview shows a moving position.

Select a card, or a Move.
In the right panel, open Mask and choose a shape: Split, Mirror, Circle, Rectangle, Heart, Star, or You on a card of one of your takes.
Choose Adjust to show the mask’s handles on the preview, and drag them. Use Feather to soften the edge, and Invert to show the outside instead.

You keeps only the speaker. Yapp Studio cuts you out of that take on your Mac the first time, which shows Cutting out…. Text, graphics and cutouts take no mask.
Things you can build
Clone you: two or three cards of your take with the You mask, each a beat behind.
Spotlight: a dark Full screen card with an inverted, feathered Circle.
Wipe reveal with a Split mask keyed across.
Cinematic bars with a Mirror on a Move over black.

Change a clip’s speed
Select a clip (or a clip card) and set Speed between 0.25× and 10×. Your voice keeps its pitch, and the words, captions and everything on the clip follow.
Select the clip on the main track.
In the right panel, open Speed. Drag the slider, type a number or choose Reset. Right-clicking the clip, then Speed, also offers 0.25×, 0.5×, 1×, 2× and 4×.
Turn on Change audio pitch only if you want it to play like a tape, higher when faster.
The clip gets shorter or longer and the clips after it move along. Its words, captions, and the zooms, text, graphics, cards and cutouts over it stretch with it. A badge such as 2× on the clip marks its speed. Pauses are counted as they play.
A card of a clip has the same control, and its bar’s right-click menu has Speed too. A picture or GIF card has none.
